Shyam Sunder Sharma

Shyam Sunder Sharma (b. 1941) is an Indian print artist, author, and poet born in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. He developed an early interest in printmaking, learning the art from his maternal grandfather before pursuing higher education in Fine Arts at Lucknow University. Sharma began his teaching career in 1966 at the College of Arts and Crafts, Patna, where he later became Head of the Department of Printmaking and Principal. His works have been exhibited in solo and group shows internationally. He has served on the General Council of Lalit Kala Akademi and as Chairman of the Advisory Board of the National Gallery of Modern Art, Delhi. Sharma has authored several books on poetry, theatre, art, and art history. His honours include the Lalit Kala Akademi National Award and the Padma Shri.
