Sanju Das (b. 1972), born in Darbhanga, Bihar, is a Mithila artist whose distinctive visual language is deeply rooted in her cultural heritage. Her paintings draw from the spirit of Mithila tradition while developing into a contemporary expression through vibrant colours, intricate detailing, and symbolic imagery. Her work explores women’s inner strength, devotion, struggles, endurance, and emotional journeys, transforming personal experiences into visual poetry. Myth, ritual, and storytelling are woven together in compositions that feel both intimate and universal. Das bridges folk sensibility with modern aesthetics, giving traditional motifs new meaning through her personal perspective. Through years of dedicated practice and participation in national and international exhibitions and art camps, she continues to contribute to the contemporary Indian art scene.
