S .G. Vasudev

S. G. Vasudev, born in Mysore, completed his diploma in Fine Arts from the Government College of Art and Craft, Madras, in 1968, where he was influenced by artist-teacher K. C. S. Paniker. He received the Lalit Kala Akademi National Award in 1967. His renowned Vriksha series evolved into the Mithuna series, exploring vegetal and human imagery, followed by He & She, Hayavadana, Ganesha, and Humanscapes. Vasudev has worked across painting, copper engraving, beaten metal, batik, and tapestry. His compositions combine linearity, colour, lyricism, and geometric forms. A founder-member of Cholamandal Artists’ Village, he has exhibited widely in India and abroad and lives and works in Bengaluru.
