Ravikumar Kashi (b. 1968, Bangalore) is a distinguished contemporary Indian artist known for his interdisciplinary practice spanning painting, printmaking, sculpture, photography, artist’s books, and installation. Holding degrees in Painting, Printmaking, and English Literature, he also trained in handmade papermaking in the UK and Korea. Kashi’s work explores the mechanics of meaning-making, with paper playing a central role in his practice. Rather than simply working on paper, he transforms pulp into intricate three-dimensional forms that challenge conventional perceptions of the medium. Language is another recurring element, with scripts becoming tactile visual forms. His work also engages with modernization, urban experiences, contemporary media, and culture. Alongside his studio practice, Kashi is an active writer and educator.
