Parshotam Singh, born in 1933 in Attak, Pakistan, developed an interest in art during childhood, influenced by his father’s skill in carving wooden furniture. Despite discouragement from family and relatives, he remained committed to art throughout his life, working through numerous challenges and hardships. Coming from a middle-class family, Singh pursued his artistic practice for around eight decades and worked across a variety of surfaces. During his career, he met artists including M.F. Husain, A.A. Almelkar, and Shanti Dave, who encouraged his artistic journey. Singh worked on several series, including Musicians, Mountains, Variety of Faces and Expressions, Sufis and Houris, and Jugni. His Musician series remained a particular focus and brought him recognition. He held numerous solo and group exhibitions in India and abroad, and his works were also sold through gallery auctions.
