Nupur Kundu

Nupur Kundu (b. 1975) is a New Delhi-based artist who completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from the College of Art, New Delhi, in 1993. Drawn to painting and dancing from childhood, she developed a strong artistic sensibility that continues to shape her practice. A natural colourist, Kundu works primarily with abstraction, exploring the interplay and layering of colours to express nature and emotive moods. Her compositions are built painstakingly, layer by layer, often beginning with black before forms emerge through successive applications of colour. Organic motifs, geometric forms, repetitive brushstrokes, and impasto create depth and texture. She uses varied tools, including dental instruments, nail files, knives, spatulas, and cloth. Her works have been exhibited in India and internationally, including Dubai, Singapore, the USA, and Mauritius.
