Manu Parekh (b. 1939) is an Indian contemporary painter known particularly for his paintings of Varanasi. Born in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, he graduated from the Sir J. J. School of Art, Mumbai, in 1962, where he trained under Mukund Shroff. He began his career in theatre before working as an art designer at the Weavers’ Service Centre and later as a Design Consultant in New Delhi. Parekh eventually pursued a full-time career as a freelance artist. His artistic influences include Rabindranath Tagore and Ram Kinker Baij. He has exhibited extensively in India and internationally, including notable exhibitions focused on Banaras, flowers, and landscapes. He received the Lalit Kala Akademi National Art Award in 1982 and was awarded the Padma Shri in 1991.
