Laxman Aelay (born 8 June 1965) is an Indian painter whose work is deeply inspired by the lives and poverty of people in his village. Born in Kadirenigudem, Nalgonda district, he often depicts villagers against the backdrop of their homes, capturing their everyday realities. Aelay earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Master of Fine Arts from the College of Fine Arts, JNAFAU. His artistic practice also includes monochrome and hyperrealistic works, as well as experiments combining photography, drawing, and digital techniques. In 2006, he created works using photographs of Kadirenigudem, modifying them through drawing and Photoshop. Aelay also designed the Telangana state logo. His awards include a Bronze Medal, Gold Medal, and Appreciation Award from various art organisations.
