Jogen Chowdhury

Jogen Chowdhury, born in 1939 in Bangladesh, graduated from the Government College of Art & Craft, Kolkata (1960) and completed his postgraduate degree there. His career spans over six decades of solo and group exhibitions worldwide, including Paris, New York, Berlin, Singapore, and Japan. A recipient of numerous awards, he received the ‘Prix Le Franc de la Jeune Peinture’ (Paris, 1966), the ‘Kalidas Samman’ (2001), an honorary D.Litt from Rabindra Bharati University (2007), and the ‘Lady Ranu Mukherjee Lifetime Achievement Award’ (2016). His work is held in major museums globally, including the Victoria and Albert Museum, National Gallery of Modern Art, and Singapore Art Museum. Chowdhury lives and works in Kolkata.
