B. Vithal

Born in Maharashtra, B. Vithal studied sculptural art at Sir J. J. School of Art, Bombay. He began drawing at the age of five, creating images of Ganesha and other Hindu deities, and remained deeply inspired by Hindu mythology, philosophy, and ancient Indian art throughout his career. His works explored aesthetic forms, structures, textures, colours, and composition, with a strong emphasis on technique and craftsmanship. During periods of financial hardship, he worked as a signboard painter and designed mandapas and event stages, gaining experience with diverse materials. Vithal experimented with abstraction and worked across graphite, chalk, watercolour, oil, stone, iron, bronze, aluminium, glass, and fibreglass. In his mature years, he increasingly focused on sculpture and built his career in Bombay.
