Sudhir Patwardhan

Sudhir Patwardhan (b. 1949) is an Indian contemporary painter and practising radiologist, born in Pune, Maharashtra. He graduated in medicine from the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, in 1972 and moved to Mumbai in 1973, where he worked as a radiologist until 2000. After 2005, he became a full-time artist. Patwardhan is particularly known for his cityscapes, which explore the experiences and realities of the urban middle class and working poor. His works have been exhibited extensively in India and internationally, including at the Festival of India in London and New York, Centre Pompidou in Paris, and Tate Modern in London. His paintings are held in prominent collections, including the National Gallery of Modern Art, Kiran Nadar Museum of Art, and Jehangir Nicholson Art Foundation.
