Amrita Ghosh

Amrita Ghosh is an Indian contemporary artist whose lifelong passion for art was shaped by her childhood in Chittaranjan, West Bengal, where the surrounding nature inspired her imagination and creative practice. Nature remains a central concern in her paintings, alongside lived experiences and personal reflections expressed through visual narratives. Often working in series, Ghosh draws upon literary sources to develop symbols and visual metaphors. Her pictorial language is rooted in line, with colour emerging through delicate brushstrokes. She works across oil on canvas, charcoal and soft pastel on paper, pigment-based ink on gauze, papier-mâché, and stitching. Her works are held in private collections in India and abroad. Alongside her studio practice, she also writes on art for English and Bengali platforms.
